Cable Technician I, II, III

Location: Rancho Cucamonga , CA

NIC Partners Inc. is currently searching for Cable Technicians I, II, III. Cable Technicians I, II, III ares responsible for working with crews to ensure that special systems projects are efficiently implemented per scope of work and industry standards.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Works with Cable Technicians in completing field installation projects.
  • Use skilled handling techniques for pulling cable, to avoid damage.
  • Use power tools to install IDF cabinets, racks, network equipment and related cabling equipment.
  • Dress and terminate copper and/or fiber as it pertains to IDF cabinets and general construction.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Works alternate schedules, as needed, to accommodate customer and operational project schedules and goals (including early morning, late nights, or overnight visits)
  • Works additional hours, on-call/after-hours and/or weekends, as needed, to meet deadlines or to fulfill travel obligations.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, standards and safety rules
  • Performs other duties/responsibilities, as required or assigned by the manager
  • Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Experience/Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of job-related experience

Physical demands:  Physically demanding work can involve the usual hazards of construction, including but not limited to entering small spaces (attics, crawl spaces, knee walls), being on ladders or scaffolding, using power tools etc.

Ability to stand and walk continuously for over 2/3 of normal shift. Ability to talk and to hear continuously up to 2/3 of normal shift.  Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, balance, twist and reach with hands and arms above shoulders frequently for over 2/3 of normal shift. Ability to crawl into confined spaces for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 80 pounds occasionally with assistance. Finger dexterity is required frequently for over 2/3 of the normal work shift. 

Vision:  Ability to see at close range (20 inches or less), at a distance (clear vision at 20 feet or more), ability to identify and distinguish colors, ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships, and ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

Work Environment:  Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, in addition to indoor conditions.  Noise levels will range from moderate (such as computers and printers) to loud (such as drills and cutting). Ability to withstand intense heat or cold when working in attics and unconditioned spaces. Ability to be on ladders and safely use tools and equipment.

Travel:  Ability to travel locally up to 95% of the time.
